Jake Sears
Jake’s empathetic and genuine approach to counseling creates a safe, nonjudgmental space for his clients’ self-growth journey. He is committed to serving at-risk and vulnerable populations and has provided individual therapy to adults and teenagers experiencing depression, ADHD, anxiety, grief, and trauma. Jake utilizes an integrative client-centered approach drawing from Person-Centered and Cognitive-Behavioral therapies by focusing on the client's core beliefs to increase the client's self-awareness and potential. Jake seeks to build a strong client-therapist relationship through trust, respect, humor, without judgment.
Jake earned his Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Jake’s career started as a client care specialist at an emergency shelter, where he worked with unhoused populations and individuals of lower socioeconomic status. While pursuing his graduate degree, Jake worked as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Specialist, where he supported individuals in the community to improve their daily functioning.
Jake spends his spare time with his wife and their two dogs and cat. He enjoys playing trivia, ultimate frisbee, and video games, as well as cooking and baking. He lives by the words “Be more kind” personally and professionally.
