Rosemary Townsend
Rosemary Townsend is a licensed therapist practicing across the state of Maryland. She has 4 years of experience working in community based mental health providing therapy services and intensive case management. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work in 2022.
Rosemary values a client-centered approach utilizing non-judgmental curiosity, empathy, and humor to meet clients where they are. She prioritizes building trust with clients in order to co-create a space where they can safely explore their emotions. She practices with an anti-oppressive framework, guiding therapy informed by fat liberation, feminism, and queer theory. Additionally, she is an ally to those who practice non-monogamy, engage in kink dynamics, and engage in sex work.
Over the course of her career Rosemary has gained extensive experience working with individuals of all ages addressing mental health concerns including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, and personality disorders. She currently centers much of her practice around working with LGBTQIA2S+ clients and neurodivergent clients. Additionally, she has an aptitude for working with individuals who have a history of relational trauma, challenges in their sex life, and difficulties managing relationships. She relies most frequently on methods from CBT, DBT, ACT, and IFS.
In her free time, Rosemary enjoys reading on her kindle, cooking new foods, being outdoors, dancing, spending time with her loved ones, and listening to Adrienne Lenker.
